Microneedling

Microneedling

Microneedling is a simple, non-surgical procedure strategically designed to reduce damage to the upper layers of your skin. This minimally invasive procedure utilizes a device that looks like a large pen. The end contains a disposable cartridge with 12 extremely fine needles that penetrate the skin to a specified, tightly controlled depth. The procedure is performed in our office after application of a topical anesthetic. It produces no or very mild discomfort. The procedure creates micro-channels in the skin. This allows delivery of topically applied hydrators (like hyaluronic acid) deeper into the skin. Most importantly, as the micro-channels are repaired, healthier collagen and elastin fibers are produced. This results in improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, scars, enlarged and dilated pores, and hyperpigmentation.

The design of the device allows for use in hard-to-reach areas such as the neck, upper and lower lips, and around the nose and eyes. This treatment is particularly helpful in improving the appearance of acne scars as well as of lines on the upper and lower lips and lower cheeks.

These treatments are usually done in a series of 4-6 sessions, generally a month apart. Mild facial redness and minimal swelling may occur for 24 to 72 hours after the procedure. The condition of your skin will usually continue to improve for 6 to 12 months after a course of treatments.
