Microdermabrasion

Dermasweep is a procedure that combines the technology of microdermabrasion and chemical peels.  This is a two-step process; the first step mechanically removes dead skin cells and impurities from the skin surface, while the second allows infusion of glycolic acid, salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, or Vitamin C.  During the first step, there are a variety of microdermabrasion tips that can be used, depending on the sensitivity of the skin.  The Dermasweep wand gently raises the skin against the treatment tip, lifting and vacuuming away the dead skin cells from the topmost layer of the skin.  This stimulates blood flow, cleans the pores, removes debris, and leaves a smoother and cleaner surface.  During the second step, solutions containing ingredients specifically designed to meet your needs are infused into the skin, followed by a final buffing of the surface with a silk tip.

The solution chosen for the infusion depends upon the desired effect.   Glycolic acid is helpful in reducing early aging lines and uneven texture.  Salicylic acid is a medicated solution that is a useful addition in the treatment of adult acne, Hyaluronic acid, which is combined with camomile and aloe vera, is a hydrating solution for dry, sensitive skin.  The Vitamin C solution, which also contains azelaic acid, hydroquinone, and kojic acid, aids in reducing hyperpigmentation and uneven color.  The procedure is safe and essentially painless.  Many patients enjoy the sensation of a deep cleaning.  You may feel mild tightening and your skin may be slightly pink (the color will fade away quickly).  You will notice a softening and smoothing of your skin immediately.  This procedure is generally performed monthly for three months, followed by a maintenance program of one treatment per season.  This is an excellent step for someone considering their first cosmetic procedure.
