Dermasweep

DermaSweep MD is a technological leap forward from traditional, aluminum oxide-based microdermabrasion and other exfoliation systems in treating specific skin conditions and improving overall skin appearance and health.

HOW IT WORKS: Using a variable-level vacuum system and an assortment of treatment tips, the DermaSweep wand gently lifts the skin against the appropriate treatment tip, removing the topmost (epidermis) layer of skin. The system then vacuums dead skin away in a precise and controlled manner.  The skin is left smoother as the vacuum action of the wand stimulates blood flow, cleans the pores and moves the skin debris away.  The increased blood flow to the skin’s surface encourages collagen formation, thus firming and toning the epidermis as well.  Using the Epi-Infusion option, skin-specific treatments can also be applied during exfoliation, leaving patients with fresher feeling and better-looking skin.

SKIN CONDITIONS THAT CAN BENEFIT FROM DERMASWEEP TREATMENT:

  • Early aging lines
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Photo damage
  • Pre-PDT (photodynamic therapy) treatment
  • Acne
  • Surgical scars
  • Improved overall skin health

DermaSweep Epi-Infusion treatments combine exfoliation with the delivery of skin-specific topical solutions to treat dermatological conditions.  The solution is applied under vacuum pressure at the same time the system exfoliates the epidermis.  The result is an effective treatment for each patient’s unique skin condition and needs.  Topical solutions can address the following conditions with the Epi-Infusion Wand:

  • ACNE:  Salicylic Acid, for the treatment of Acne and clogged pores
  • DEHYDRATION:  Hyaluronic Acid containing Aloe Vera and Chamomile formulated for normal-to-dry, combination and sensitive skin
  • HYPERPIGMENTATION: Skin-brightening solution with Hydroquinone, Azelaic Acid and Kojic Acid to lighten pigmentation

Treatment is safe and painless.  Patients may feel mild skin tightening after exfoliation, but skin will be quite smooth.  The moisture of any topical treatment will leave skin feeling cool and refreshed.  Risks associated with traditional exfoliation or microdermabrasion are eliminated, since DermaSweep does not use aluminum oxide crystals, which can remain embedded in the skin and cause irritation.

DermaSweep can be done during a normally scheduled office visit and in most cases, you can return to your normal activities.  Treatments usually take 15 minutes depending upon specific skin condition being treated, at our discretion.  After treatment, skin will have a warm, pinkish glow that can last up to 30 minutes.  Post-treatment care is simple and easy.  We will recommend skin moisturizers, serums, sunscreens and cleansers that you can use at home to maintain results of the treatment.  Be sure to avoid direct sun exposure for several days after treatment.

Typically, results are seen after the first treatment.  Lasting, more significant results will occur after 4 to 6 treatments, spaced 10 days to 2 weeks apart, supported by a daily post-treatment routine.
