Belotero Dermal Filler is a recently released, FDA approved Hyaluronic Acid filler. The specific manufacturing process used to create Belotero produces a uniquely soft and cohesive gel that integrates into the skin to give a smooth surface. I find that this filler is particularly useful for treating fine lines, especially those of the upper and lower lip, those between the eyebrows, and those that cross the cheeks and chin.
Since it is composed from Hyaluronic Acid or HA, a natural component of skin that has the capacity to bind to water, Belotero makes an ideal dermal filler. It binds with the skin's own water to plump wrinkles and folds. The material is injected using an especially fine needle.
As with the administration of all fillers, we offer the application of a potent topical anesthetic that is applied in the office a half hour before your treatment to enhance your comfort. Mild redness, swelling, or bruising are possible side effects, and usually resolve within several days. Arnica tablets, which are available in our office, can decrease the chance of bruising. There is very little or no downtime associated with a Belotero procedure. Moisturizer and/or makeup may be applied right after treatment, and you can resume your normal activities.
The effects are apparent immediately after injection, and maximal benefit is achieved after about one week. In most individuals, Boletero will last in excess of six months.
