Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-invasive ultrasound treatment for counteracting the effects of time and gravity on your skin. It is an effective “lifting technology” that offers an alternative to surgical facelifts for many individuals. Ultherapy uses the body’s own ability to regenerate, gradually restoring underlying tissue supports.

As with other ultrasound procedures, a smooth apparatus is applied to your skin and projects an image onto a screen. This allows visualization of exactly where the ultrasound treatment is directed. Low levels of focused heat are delivered to very specific levels in and just beneath your skin. This results in the growth of new collagen, which is the basic structural building block of your skin. A gradual tightening occurs, which creates a natural lift over time.

Ultherapy is very effective in lifting sagging skin in the neck, tightening the jaw line, reducing bags and sagging under the eyes, and lifting the brows by several millimeters (an eighth to a quarter of an inch).

Ultherapy is the only skin-regenerating procedure that uses ultrasound for non-invasive skin sculpting. Comfort level during the procedure can vary from person to person, and if so desired, modest pain medication may be administered before the procedure. Patients generally experience a momentary heated prickling sensation, which represents the ultrasound energy being delivered into the tissue.

With a single treatment, the regeneration process is initiated, and you will see some improvement almost immediately. The full effect of Ultherapy treatment takes two to three months to develop, and in some individuals continued improvement occurs for up to six months.

You are able to return to normal activities after Ultherapy, although if you opt for pain medication before the procedure, you may not be able to drive for several hours.  Your skin may appear slightly flushed immediately after treatment, but redness should disappear within several hours.

There is no non-surgical treatment that will have the dramatic effects of a face-lift, but this non-invasive approach creates significant skin tightening and actual lifting.

A lowered browline or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of “maturing” skin. A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of looking and feeling less firm.
